Processing wax and honey at Findon Mills
In the background is the hot water uncapping tray with slabs of set honey in the combs slowly melting and sliding down with molten wax and honey flowing into the wax separator. The separator is full and the overflowing honey is pouring into another container. The wax always solidifies and is lifted off and placed on the wire mesh filters under the yellow lid to allow surplus honey to drain off for a while as there is not much room.
The picture below is a close-up of the set-up with the wax separator having been emptied of wax and honey but you can see the effect of the flowing mixture as the wax was solidifying above the molten honey, the level of which will eventually rise up behind the baffle on the right and flow out into another container.
