Update for October 2024

We are delighted to inform you all that we have Alan Riach, Education Officer, SBA coming up to judge our Honey Show this year. It is a great opportunity to get feedback on your honey and I am sure we will have lots of questions for him at the show on Saturday 5th October. (Note the change of day.)

In 2023 we revised some of the classes for the Honey Show, mainly relating to the novice categories. Many of the classes require the showing of two identical jars of honey but we felt that this can be hard for novice beekeepers so we have added the option to enter with a single 1lb jar for novices. The points gained in the Novice classes will be those which count towards the Novice Cup. Novices are also welcome to enter the normal categories too but two jars are required for those.

We also added a candle class and as ever, there is a lot to be learned about good candle making. Hopefully a good number of you will give this a go!

There should be no form of identification on the entry.

Recipes are found here. There is a replacement recipe for the Honey Cake. (August 2024)
