Pollen collecting

During our visit to Tain Apiary we saw the fitting of pollen traps onto 2 of the hives. The collection was being carried out in response to literature that was circulated earlier in the year and this link takes you to where the documents are stored.

The collecting box is left in place for 24 hours to acclimatise the bees before inserting the mesh.

The mesh through which the bees pass and lose the pollen can be seen jutting out to the left of the box.
